Our client is a gearbox manufacturing and service company.  The company provides engineering solutions and aftermarket support for heavy industries such as mining, power generation, and marine, with a strong local presence supporting South Africa’s industrial sector.

We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor – Gear Cutting to manage and lead a high-performing production team within a heavy manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring production targets are consistently met while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.  This role is based in Johannesburg. Seize your chance and apply today!

Job Responsibilities:
  • Manage daily, weekly, and quarterly production schedules to meet output targets.
  • Supervise and lead ±30 production employees.
  • Monitor, prioritize, and coordinate workflow to meet deadlines.
  • Track and report on production output, work center utilization, and productivity.
  • Ensure booked vs paid hours are accurately accounted for.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve production delays using root-cause analysis.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across production processes.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Quality Management Systems.
  • Take full accountability for Health & Safety compliance within all work areas.

Qualifications & Skills Requirements:
  • N3 Certificate in Mechanical Engineering and/or Fitter & Turner / Turner Trade (essential).
  • Production or related diploma/degree (advantageous).
  • Minimum 8 years’ production supervisory experience in heavy manufacturing (essential).
  • Minimum 5 years’ gear cutting and grinding experience (advantageous).
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Conventional and CNC Lathes.
  • Slotting, Planer, and Milling Machines.
  • Solid knowledge of engineering principles and modern production processes.
  • Experience with PM and TPM practices.
  • Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
