We are seeking a PROJECT ACCOUNTANT to support financial operations for large‑scale capital projects. This position is suited for a detail‑driven finance professional experienced in invoice processing, cost controls, and SAP.
The Project Accountant will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective cost management, and timely processing of project‑related invoices. The role requires strong analytical abilities and the capability to collaborate closely with project teams, procurement, accounts payable, and external vendors.
Work Location: Vancouver based
Employment Type: Independent Contractor (long-term project assignment)
Hourly Rate: $65/hour
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and verify all project invoices against POs, contracts, and SES before approving for payment.
- Enter accurate invoice and cost data into SAP and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
- Support cost control by maintaining ledgers, performing reconciliations, and analyzing budget variances.
- Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders to prepare financial plans and performance reports.
- Maintain complete documentation and workpapers to ensure compliance with corporate policies and audit requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
- Experience in project accounting within industrial, resource, engineering, or infrastructure project environments.
- 2–3 years of invoicing or accounts payable experience, ideally within mining, construction, industrial, or EPCM environments.
- Strong proficiency in SAP, including SES creation and invoice processing.
- Competent user of MS Office (Excel and Word required).
- Knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, and financial compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage priorities in a dynamic project environment.
- Understanding of mining project workflows, contract structures, and procurement processes.
- Experience working with large capital projects or EPCM teams.
