SMP AREA MANAGER

Position specific responsibilities and requirements:
The Area Manager will be embedded in the owner's construction team reporting to the Site Manager. Responsibilities include coordinating the construction contractor's activities on site, specific duties include:
- Participation in the site safety initiatives and procedures and embracing the project safety culture.
- Monitoring of the contractor’s daily works, including quality inspection, daily progress reporting and leading indicator safety leadership activities.
- Liaison with other work teams to manage interfaces including Module Logistics and Company Supplied Materials
- Ensuring efficient execution of the Structural Mechanical Piping (SMP) scope by guiding the contractor’s teams in the installation, inspection and testing of systems, and identifying and correcting deficiencies.
- Assist in interactions with mine operations and other contractors.
- Monitor and review risk register development and implementation of mitigations.
- Review of construction permits.
- Liaise with supervisors from other areas re milestone interfaces.
- Previous experience supervising heavy industry construction works.
- Proven knowledge and experience in project planning and resource management.
- Highly developed analytical and problem solving skills.
- Sound communication and interpersonal skills to enable clear and concise communication of plans.
- Experienced in Risk management processes including facilitation of construction risk assessment workshops.
- Experience in reading and monitoring complex construction schedules will be advantageous
- Proficient knowledge in MS Office suite.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Recognised Australian Mechanical Trade Qualification.
- Minimum of C class manual drivers licence.
- 10+ year construction supervision experience.
- Position desired experience, competencies and qualifications.
- Previous experience in owners team or EPCM environment would be advantageous.
- Previous experience with behavioral based safety management systems would be advantageous.
