Position specific responsibilities and requirements:

The Area Manager will be embedded in the owner's construction team reporting to the Site Manager. Responsibilities include coordinating the construction contractor's activities on site, specific duties include:

  • Participation in the site safety initiatives and procedures and embracing the project safety culture.
  • Monitoring of the contractor’s daily works, including quality inspection, daily progress reporting and leading indicator safety leadership activities.
  • Liaison with other work teams to manage interfaces including Module Logistics and Company Supplied Materials
  • Ensuring efficient execution of the Structural Mechanical Piping (SMP) scope by guiding the contractor’s teams in the installation, inspection and testing of systems, and identifying and correcting deficiencies.
  • Assist in interactions with mine operations and other contractors.
  • Monitor and review risk register development and implementation of mitigations.
  • Review of construction permits.
  • Liaise with supervisors from other areas re milestone interfaces.
Position required competencies and skills:
  • Previous experience supervising heavy industry construction works.
  • Proven knowledge and experience in project planning and resource management.
  • Highly developed analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Sound communication and interpersonal skills to enable clear and concise communication of plans.
  • Experienced in Risk management processes including facilitation of construction risk assessment workshops.
  • Experience in reading and monitoring complex construction schedules will be advantageous
  • Proficient knowledge in MS Office suite.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Position required qualifications:
  • Recognised Australian Mechanical Trade Qualification.
  • Minimum of C class manual drivers licence.
Position desired experience, competencies and qualifications:
  • 10+ year construction supervision experience.
  • Position desired experience, competencies and qualifications.
  • Previous experience in owners team or EPCM environment would be advantageous.
  • Previous experience with behavioral based safety management systems would be advantageous.
