For our client's renewable project for a refinery site in Sweden we are currently searching for a Construction Engineer. He/she will start of in the home office in the Netherlands and will transfer to site in Sweden in Q1 2025. Foreseen duration of this project is until end of 2026.

Job Responsibilities:

Support the construction efforts by providing technical support to project as well as helping to satisfy Quality requirements. Initiates action when necessary to ensure the project is being built as specified in the scope of work. Provide construction engineering and technical support for a specific discipline on large stand-alone projects or provide construction engineering and technical support for two or more construction engineering disciplines on small to medium projects.
  • Normally supervise two or more construction engineers
  • Remain knowledgeable of requirements for applicable codes and standards on a project
  • Receive and distribute project design documents, often supervising the field engineering office
  • Manage site survey and direct their daily activities
  • Assist craftsmen, foremen, and project supervision with regard to construction-related issues identified on drawings
  • Perform surveillance/examinations, if required, to ensure that the Quality objectives are being met for the project
  • Actively participate in knowledge sharing
  • Perform constructability assignments in the office, as required
  • Help coordinate system completion and system turnover with regard to start up activities for assigned systems, if required
  • Provide technical interpretation of design documents in support of construction managers, superintendents, and contractors and provides specific expertise for problem solving activities
  • Prepare material take-offs as well as initiate and prepare requisitions for the procurement of services, materials, and equipment necessary to support the project schedule of the construction engineering department and other project departments
  • Provide guidance to, as well as training and development of, construction engineering personnel
  • Monitor the performance of project construction engineers against specific expectations
  • Establish and maintain effective communication between the company and the design engineer to ensure the timely flow of design documents and information
  • Maintain liaison with the company’s technical and construction support departments to provide the technical and construction engineering expertise required to support the project
  • Coordinate the preparation of the construction engineering section of the Project Procedures
  • Manual ; coordinate, in conjunction with the Contract Administration group
  • Coordinate the preparation and implementation of the project quality program when the quality function is the responsibility of the construction engineering department; report the status of functions performed by the construction engineering department to project management
  • Provide technical evaluation of bid proposals
  • Coordinate the preparation and revision of technical work procedures consistent with project design and construction requirements
  • Schedule and coordinate the release of construction design documents in support of the construction schedule
  • Provide marked-up drawings and information required for the preparation of as-built drawings
  • Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines
  • Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Plan and organize own work assignments, as well as carry out tasks from management staff
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and global standards
  • Adhere to and support Client's Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies
  • Effectively develop and apply the Core Skills to the job
  • May need to travel to attend to business related matters
  • Meet expectations on attendance and punctuality

Other duties assigned:
  • Maintaining the constructability Program including
o Organizing work shops
o Initiate and Maintaining Constructability check lists (With discipline leads)
o Maintaining Constructability log
  • Asist in defining construction sequence including:
o Presentations towards Disciplines and Client
o Assisting in set up of construction execution schedule
o Defining RAS dates for materials
o Construction execution sequence
o Developing RFP’s
  • Generate Temporary facilities plans including:
o Drawings
o Temporary facilities specifications
o MTO

Qualifications:
  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and ten (10) years of work-related experience; a recognized certification or registration in the applicable field, if required; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
Experience:
  • An experienced discipline engineer with a Mechanical and or Civil/Structural background
  • Project working experience in Oil & Gas and or Chemical processing plants
  • Experience in Front-end Engineering and Design through to Turnover project phases
  • Experience in construction sequencing, and supporting project planning and scheduling efforts

Skills:
  • Software skills

o          MS office
  • Language skills
o          English (Mandatory)
o          Dutch (Useful)

  • Advanced Work Packaging
  • Constructability
  • Project Execution Planning
