SUMMARY:
The Transportation Systems Manager/Director is the leader for managing the company’s transportation application priorities and systems. The Director works with Executives, IT Project Managers and the field and is responsible for ensuring the application design supports the needs of the business and adds value to the existing process. They create the transportation vision and requirements and partner with IT to iterate and deliver. They will be the liaison to the training department or will work directly with the field to release new applications. They will triage system production issues and work with IT to ensure issues and enhancements are prioritized and delivered.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• WIN system owner: Interface with MIS department to meet the transportation needs about system requirements end to end and priority; Design and spec new programs needed and debug existing programs; Act as Business Analyst for new projects.
• Synthesize stakeholder feedback (including Executive Leadership) into a transportation system vision that aligns with company objectives to drive value.
• Above average presentation skills to facilitate monthly Executive Steering Committee meetings to lay out new ideas and iterate on projects in progress.
• Training: Develop Win Web training programs for the Transportation Management System Group personnel. Train employees on Win Web systems via phone and Webex. Write SOP’s or training documents for any new systems releases to user community. Travel to Facilities to implement new standard operating procedures or assist with any problem areas affecting data management.
• Database Management: Responsible for managing data for the transportation management system, working with dispatch planning branches, life cycle details, maintenance, mechanic worksheets, areas, tracking, etc.
• Facilitate Team growth: Drive teamwork and collaboration between the Transportation Department and MIS to ensure we optimize time and efficiencies. Foster a results oriented, continuous improvement environment based on best-practice transportation management principles.
• Implement: Travel to facilities to implement new procedures or assist with any problem areas affecting transportation systems and data management.
• Drive results: Drive cost benefit analysis of the deployment or development of technology in the transportation operations. Process design or redesign to reduce cost or improve operational capability and improve service. Take care of key projects when necessary.
• Problem resolution: Act as hotline to employees around the country for any WIN issues in the transportation space, including working with MIS for resolution. Cover level 1 Service Now issues. Works closely with Inventory, Supply Chain, Distribution Center, Electronic Log Device (ELD), Fixed Asset and Maintenance Departments.
• Acquisitions: Lead integration team on any new acquisitions to get the transportation systems up and running on WIN.
• Create and present internal status reports for SVP.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Transportation, Dispatch, Technology, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years relevant experience.
• Comfortable initiating change; consciously managing and shaping change. Can handle the stress related to balancing multiple issues and perspectives.
• Track record of successfully interacting and building relationships and presenting to CXO level individuals.
