An amazing opportunity is now available for a Lead Mechanical Engineer with mining experience (surface and/or underground) and a strong background in EPCM project delivery. This role is based in Johannesburg.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead mechanical engineering activities for underground mining operations.
• Ensure compliance with mining regulations and safety standards.
• Oversee maintenance, reliability, and performance of mechanical systems and equipment.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for equipment failures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, civil, and mining engineers.
• Manage contractors and service providers on site.
• Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, and engineering drawings.
• Support capital projects and equipment upgrades.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives in mechanical systems and processes.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

• BEng/BSc in Mechanical Engineering.
• 10–15 years of experience in mechanical engineering, predominantly in mining.
• Extensive experience in underground mining operations.
• Strong knowledge of mining equipment, ventilation systems, and shaft infrastructure.
• ECSA registration (preferred).
• Proven leadership and project management skills.
• Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
• Exposure to ISO standards and risk management frameworks.
• Ability to work in remote and challenging environments.
