Client is looking for QA/QC Lead
Project Type: Brownfield | EPC | PMC | Petrochemical Plant | Turnaround (TA) | Furnaces
Location: Jubail, Saudi Arabia
Requirements/Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering
- 13+ years of experience in QA/QC within ethylene/petrochemical plants (EPC/PMC execution)
- Prior Saudi Arabia project experience is a MUST
- Proven expertise in brownfield quality management, furnace installation, and equipment modifications
- Familiarity with DCS/ESD/SIS interfaces and turnaround (TA) quality controls
- Strong command of codes & standards: ASME (Sec II, V, VIII, IX, B31.3), API (510/570/650/660/661/682), AWS D1.1, ISO/IEC, NACE, NFPA, and Saudi Aramco standards
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing QCPs/ITPs, WPS/PQR/WQTR, NDE plans (RT, UT, MT, PT), PWHT, coating/insulation QA, hydrotest/pneumatic test control
- Competent in vendor surveillance, FAT/SAT, material inspection (MTCs), and traceability
- Strong HSE mindset; experienced with permit-to-work, SIMOPS, and risk-based inspection (RBI) considerations in live plants
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Responsibilities:
- Lead the project quality management system (QMS): establish and enforce Project Quality Plan, ITPs/QCPs, NCR handling, CAPA, and lessons learned
- Plan and control quality for brownfield scopes in operating ethylene/petrochemical plants, ensuring safe execution under SIMOPS and turnaround windows
- Oversee furnace-related QA/QC:
- Steel structure/foundation QA, refractory/insulation quality checks, burner/coil installation tolerances
- Ducts/stacks fabrication/erection quality, alignment, expansion joints, and dimensional control
- Ensure quality for equipment upgrades/modifications, including:
- CGC: casing/rotor inspections (OEM criteria), lube/seal system quality, alignment checks, vibration baseline documentation
- Pumps: API 610 compliance, seal plan verification, baseplate grout & alignment QA, nozzle load checks
- Columns/Towers: trays/packing QA, internals installation, nozzle reinforcement, hydrotest records and leak integrity
- Approve engineering deliverables impacting quality: welding maps, NDE matrices, ITPs, test packs, systemization boundaries, turnover dossiers
- Direct piping QA/QC: material verification, heat numbers/traceability, fit-up/weld visual, NDE execution, pressure test readiness, reinstatement inspections
- Manage electrical/instrument QA interfaces: MCC/switchgear FAT/SAT, cable testing (IR/HiPot), loop checks, grounding/earthing integrity, DCS/ESD/SIS cutover and validation
- Coordinate civil/structural QA: rebar placement, concrete tests (slump/cylinders), anchor bolt tolerances, grouting, bolt torque, coatings
- Lead TA quality controls: pre-shutdown inspections, controlled disassembly/reassembly, dimensional checks, calibration, punch-list closure, and handover/turnover
- Execute vendor and site surveillance: witness points/hold points, OEM field service quality, spares verification, and preservation controls
- Maintain compliance with Saudi regulations, company standards, and HSE protocols; integrate quality risk assessments with HSE (HIRA/JSA) for live-plant work
- Report KPIs (NCR rate, rework %, first-time-right, inspection coverage, punch closure) and drive continuous improvement
