We are seeking a General Manager to lead our client’s Construction & Heavy Industry business. The division delivers large-scale civil, industrial, and infrastructure projects in demanding environments and is central to the Group’s regional growth strategy. This is a senior executive appointment reporting directly to the Chairman. The General Manager holds full accountability for strategy, delivery, and financial performance across multiple African markets. The role covers integrated operations including civil works, mechanical & electrical, plant, and heavy equipment, with regular travel to project sites. The role is located in Ghana.
Job Responsibilities:
- Full P&L ownership for the Construction & Heavy Industry division.
- Leadership of complex, multi-country projects with responsibility for safety, program, quality, and commercial outcomes.
- Oversight of integrated construction and plant operations in challenging operating environments.
- Development and leadership of senior operational and commercial teams.
- Origination and execution of new business, including tenders, partnerships, and negotiated contracts.
- Senior-level engagement with governments, DFIs, JV partners, and key clients.
Qualifications & Skill Requirements:
- 15+ years in construction, civil engineering, or heavy industry, including General Manager or equivalent executive leadership.
- Engineering or construction-related degree (Civil or Mechanical preferred).
- Proven track record managing large, capital-intensive operations with direct profit responsibility.
- Strong experience operating across African markets, ideally in frontier or emerging environments.
- Commercially astute, delivery-driven, and comfortable balancing risk, margin, and execution.
